Abstract
Left ventricular (LV) mechanical function is determined by the actomyosin crossbridges (Xbs) the motor units of the muscle. The Xb cycles between strong force generating and weak non-force generating conformations. Xb dynamics is regulated by a negative mechanical feedback which controls the rate of Xb turnover from strong to weak conformation. We report the experimental verification of our hypothesis that the transition rate of Xb turnover is determined by the sarcomere shortening velocity
