Abstract
This paper describes in detail the on-line voltage security assessment (VSA) system that has been put into operation at Beijing Electric Power Corporation (BJEPC) control center based on the DSA Power Tools. This is a real time voltage stability monitor and analysis tool developed for such a large receiving end of power system. Its background, functions, features, architecture, and application examples will be discussed. The system has abundant static analyzing functions of voltage security assessment, such as static security analysis, transfer limit computation, modal analysis, contingencies screening and remedial action. In this paper, typical monitor and analysis results of the VSA system obtained on the 2007 summer peak load snapshot of Beijing electric power grid are reported.
