Abstract
We have developed a computer model to examine the inter-working relationships between Renshaw cell recurrent inhibition of α-motoneurons and β-motoneuron innervation of spindle intrafusal muscles, two of the several feedback pathways modulating muscle force generation. To restore motor function after paralysis or injury is to restore coordinated control of muscle force generation. A better understanding of interactions among those neural circuits in the spinal cord that directly regulate recruitment of α-motoneurons is crucial for achieving the noble goal of restoring motor function for paralyzed people
