Abstract :
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the theoretical effectiveness of energy storage and return (ESR) devices in trans-tibial prosthetic devices. A mathematical model of an ESR prosthesis is used to evaluate the effect of ESR components on force transmission through the prosthesis. Results suggest that force transmission is more sensitive to stiffness than to the prosthesis damping components
