Abstract
Eight hemiplegic subjects were treated with surface electrical stimulation evaluating its short and long-term effects on spasticity and gait. Spasticity was assessed by the pendulum test. Gait analysis was done by electrogoniometry of knee and hip joints. Results on spasticity showed that six from the eight people had reduced spasticity, one had increased spasticity and one had no effect. Gait results show that two improved their gait pattern with each session, four had an overall improvement and two showed a decrease in their gait parameters
