  • Abstract
A multi-objective optimal design method for passive power filter (PPF) in hybrid active power filter (HAPF) is first proposed in this paper based on advanced particle swarm optimization (PSO). It takes the capacity of reactive power compensation, the original investment and the harmonic distortion as three objectives, and uses the simple and effective PSO to design the PPF parameters, which can reduce manual computation and enhance the optimization speed. Finally the simulation and analogical spot experiment results show that the optimal design method proposed in this paper can save 9% cost, and enhance the filtering performance and reactive power compensation, which verify the superiority and availability of the novel design method.
