Abstract
A reconfigurable antenna with two beams is designed and characterized as the polarization and angle diversity for wireless communication applications. It has built-in quadri-polarization and has different pointing direction as the function of frequency and polarization mode. The antenna is proposed at 35 GHz and implemented based on the substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) technology. All circuits are integrated on a single substrate through the normal PCB process. The polarization isolation between the two channels is about 20 dB. The addition of such antenna at the very front end of a link offers significantly potential to reduce multipath fading and increase channel capacity.
