Abstract
The MELYSSA project is part of the DRIVE-ATT (Dedicated Road Infrastructure for Vehicle Safety in Europe-Advanced road Transport Telematics) research program and it is a CORRIDOR (Co-operation On Regional Road Informatics Demonstration On Real SItes) pilot project. Four main areas of operational interest and an evaluation area have been defined: integrated inter-urban traffic management; pre-trip and at-stop user information; on-trip user information; and freight and fleet management. The expectations of this joint international approach is that advanced traffic information and control may provide a way to manage if not alleviate future transport problems and provide a first step toward IRTE (Integrated Road Transport Environment).
