Abstract :
This paper presents a method for using ultrasound to locate a catheter mounted transducer in three dimensions. The method processes signals received on the catheter transducer to locate its position within the emitted ultrasonic field. The simulation results indicate the position of the catheter tip can be determined with an average angular error of 0.12° for a signal-to-noise ratio of 20 dB
