Abstract :
This paper focuses on modeling the China-Russia BTB-HVDC system. The primary system and HVDC control system are emphatically represented and implemented in the electromagnetic transient simulation software PSCAD/EMTDC. Based on the detailed models, the steady UI characteristic and dynamic characteristic of BTB HVDC are analyzed and simulated. Step response simulation shows that HVDC controller meets the requirements of system design and technical specification. Also the parameters of VDCOL, which have an important impact on DC power recovery from faults, are optimized using the multi-run function of PSCAD/EMTDC. AC faults at the inverter side also verify the validity of the models.
