Abstract :
A prototype system for delivering high-intensity focused ultrasound (FUS) under magnetic resonance (MR) imaging guidance was used to ablate tumors or portions of tumors in an experimental carcinoma model. Generally, therapy was delivered with clinically acceptable accuracy and adequate tumor coverage. However, in a few cases pathology demonstrated residual tumor between sonication rows
