Abstract
Rapid advances in Advanced Transport Telematics Systems (ATTS), Road Transport Informatics Systems (RTIS), or Intelligent Vehicle-Highway System (IVHS), promise potential benefits to the growing number of elderly and disabled travellers. A conceptual framework for an Advanced Travel Accessibility System (ATAS) is proposed to address the requirements of these groups. Current developments are described and discussed.
