Abstract
At present the assessment of anaerobic threshold (AT) can only be made in laboratories, where an invasive technique (direct blood sampling) or noninvasive respiratory gas analysis (breath-by-breath method with online computer system) can be carried out. The authors show that AT can be estimated by a conventional electromyography technique in which an integrated electromyogram (IEMG) fatigue curve is analyzed and used to evaluate AT in athletes. The use of a single-chip computer made the device small and portable.<>
