Abstract
With the aim to provide a loosely-coupled, flexible as well as high-efficiency integration architecture in the deregulating and competitive electric market, the Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) is proposed. We emphasize the protocol, services, process, and event. The integration protocol stack that considers both underlying communication and content-based message exchange is discussed to realize interoperation both on syntax and semantics level. For the first time, we classify the services into six basic services expressly to simplify the design, modeling, and programming process. Based upon standardized services, the overall electric utility resources are organized as a tree. Moreover, the logic framework for "plug and play" integration and an optimized SOA architecture with event is also described. Finally, we apply the standardized services and events with SOA architecture to the fault diagnosis process. The results indicate that the electric utility integration architecture, which is based on industry-wide protocols with classified services and driven by the events, has the ability to provide the loosely-coupled, standard-based, asset-reuse, platform-independent, extensible integration and near real-time response.
