  • Abstract
Repeaters with high forward gain and high output power can suffer from echoes due to RF coupling between the input and output antennas, and distortion due to nonlinearities in the output stage. Distortion generated outside of the echo cancellation loop is amplified by the regenerative effect of the feedback loop formed by the RF coupling. This paper proposes a method of minimizing regenerative distortion by including a model of the power amplifier nonlinearity within the digital echo cancellation so that echo cancellation does not increase the linearity requirements of the output power amplifier.
