Title :
From research to venture: the actions of INFM
Author_Institution :
Nucleo Applicative e Trasferimento Tecnologico, INFM, Genova
Abstract :
Summary form only given. The physics of matter provides the main knowledge base for the highest and most extensive-growth industries of this century and technologies ranging from microelectronics to biomaterials and information technologies are closely related to the daily laboratory and theoretical activities in basic research. However in Italy the transfer to industry is still mainly based on indirect routes like training or limited to contract research on very focused themes. INFM has undertaken a broad set of coordinated actions aimed at a “professional enhancement” of physics researchers (teaming with chemists, engineers and biologists) and one of such actions is the support to research spin-offs, and particularly those which develop from research laboratories
