Abstract :
The emergence of highly maneuverable, high efficiency simple-cycle gas turbines allows for hybrid wind and gas turbine systems with superior dynamic performance. The paper presents dynamic system analysis of an isolated electric power system consisting of a gas turbine synchronous generator and a permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG) for a direct driven wind turbine. The mathematical model of gas turbine generating sets with excitation system and governor system is shown. Then, The variable speed wind system with a direct-drive PMSG and power electronics interface is modeled for dynamic analysis. Finally, integration of a PMSG variable speed wind turbine and a gas turbine synchronous generator has been simulated to establish compatibility of the hybrid system. The operation schemes and the system characteristics are discussed.
