Abstract
The paper presents a novel method to segment both the brain volume and the cortical surface from a MR image of the head using a single model. This method is based on an original deformable model which can handle jointly volumes and surfaces using a cellular complex based representation. The model is initialized on the outer brain surface and then deformed inside the cortex folds according to both volumic and surfacic constraints, while preserving topology
