Abstract :
Distributed generators are penetrating the electric power system at the sub-transmission, distribution and low voltage levels. Their integration with protection, automation and control systems based on the IEC 61850 standard requires the use of existing object models, as well as the new ones developed to meet the requirements of the distributed energy resources (DER) domain. Such modeling requires good understanding of the IEC 61850 modeling concepts, as well as the specifics of the different types of DERs. The paper describes the modeling hierarchy of the IEC 61850 standard and the new groups of logical nodes for modeling of systems with distributed generators.
