Abstract :
An EMTP dynamic fluorescent lamp model for electronic ballast design is described in this paper. Model parameters are simply obtained from high-frequency ν-i characteristics under different power levels. The new type-94 element of EMTP is used to describe the nonlinear characteristic of the lamp model. A PL-18W lamp is employed to examine the feasibility of the proposed EMTP model. It can be concluded from the simulated and experimental results that the proposed EMTP model is adequate to simulate the dynamic performance of a fluorescent lamp
