Abstract :
This paper presents the design of a harmonic source detection system with cascade correlation network (CCN). Harmonic power flow with current injection model calculates bus voltages and total harmonic distortion (THD). THD indices of voltages are used to determine measurement placement in the power system. At metering buses, it shows that harmonic components of voltage under various loads would form particular patterns in the frequency domain, and can be used to create training examples for CCN. Meter planning is helpful to reduce the number of meters and hence the training examples. With 14-bus power system, computer simulations were conducted to show the effectiveness of the proposed system.
