Work in progress - study of effectiveness of ICAL package for numerical methods

Learning of mathematical concepts, in a class or otherwise, is a sweating experience for most of the people. Hence either effective class room teaching or a self instructional learning material is first on the agenda of the students of any course. Numerical methods are one of the difficult computational techniques to understand and apply. Print is the only learning material available on such topics. A self learning material in addition to text/print is a never dying need of the time. An attempt is being made to develop and implement a virtual class room concept for select topics, to start-with, in numerical methods. An interactive class room simulation with graphical animation and self evaluation are basic components of the interactive computer assisted learning (ICAL) package being developed.
