Abstract :
This paper presents a novel corner-fed microstrip square patch. On the patch there is a slot along the diagonal. With this slot, the current distribution on the patch is changed. The currents related to co-polarization become more dominant and those related to cross-polarization become more symmetrical. These two factors result in a reduction in the cross-polarization level. An eight element shunt connected series-fed linear array has been designed, manufactured and tested. The measured results show that the cross-polarization level is reduced by 10.5 dB, while the other performances of the array are nearly the same as those of a standard one.
