Abstract :
Design and implementation of a digital controller for a 4/spl times/4 optoelectronic switch (OES) is discussed. The design is implemented in a field programmable gate array (FPGA) and as an application specific integrated circuit (ASIC) chip with CMOSIS5 and CMOSP35 technologies. External digital to analog (D/A) converters are used for digital signal processing (DSP) operations.
