Abstract
One of the most critical topics for electric vehicles due to the restricted possibility of energy storage is the prediction of the remaining range. By an accurate prediction of range, the driver can decide whether and where a stop needs to be planned to recharge the battery and so avoid what is known as “range anxiety”. For a high performance vehicle this range prediction requires special algorithms as the possible energy consumption can range from almost 0 Wh/km in moderate downhill driving up to 1000 or even 2000 Wh/km in race track use.
