Abstract :
The Hampton Fire & Rescue Division (HF&RD) provides fire control, emergency medical services, environmental protection and general safety education for Hampton, a city of approximately 300,000 inhabitants in southeastern Virginia, USA. Under progressive leadership, the HF&RD is one of the first fire districts to pursue accreditation under the National Fire Service Accreditation program developed by the International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC). This paper reports on a prototype community risk assessment study performed as part of the process leading up to accreditation
