Abstract
The problem of determining optimal state estimates in the face of plant uncertainties is investigated. An optimal guaranteed-cost state estimator that is easy to construct and requires a minimum of a priori assumptions is presented. The motivation for this work was the need for a robust procedure for state estimation for a Kalman-filter-based bar tension prediction system at a bar rolling mill
