Abstract
The systematic development of multi-port converters (MPCs) for a stand-alone hybrid wind-photovoltaic power system is presented in this paper. Based on the switch connection, the power flow direction and the energy buffer selection, a procedure for developing the proposed MPCs is addressed. Several families of the proposed MPCs can be derived by following the proposed procedure. In order to draw power from the photovoltaic array, the wind turbine or the storage battery, a time-sharing control scheme is accommodated in the proposed MPCs. A prototype MPC is built to verify the feasibility of the proposed development procedure. Hardware experimental results are presented to confirm the performance of the proposed MPCs
