Abstract :
Mechanical tests on cells such as the ones described can be used to augment FEA modeling of battery pack designs to better predict impact damage to the pack cells, and also to refine the FEA models. Additionally, the susceptibility of cells to damage can be assessed over a range of pressure and deformation scales for the different predicted damage locations. Thus, prior to delivery of a full system it is possible to evaluate the robustness of a systempsilas battery pack with respect to mechanical damage.
