Abstract :
We have developed hardware and software for a computer-aided complex to check and test new digital relay protection devices and emergency automatics for electric power systems. The hardware and software provide operation of the digital electric power system simulator in rigid real time. An interface unit enables conversion of the digital signals from the simulator into analog signals applied to the physical protection relays. The feedback provided by the complex allows modeling the interaction between the protection devices and the electric power system. The hardware-software complex substantially enhances the productivity of the personnel.
