Abstract
Optical confinement in antiresonant reflecting optical waveguides (ARROW´s) is provided by a system of cladding layers designed to form antiresonant Fabry-Perot cavities. The guided ARROW modes are leaky waves whose radiation losses into the substrate are reduced by the high reflectivity of the antiresonant claddings. For a typical ARROW structure the cladding layer thicknesses can be found by using the approximate antiresonant conditions. The paper reports a new iteration technique which provides exact antiresonant values of the cladding layer thicknesses for ARROW structures with an arbitrary refractive index profile core layer
