Abstract
Dynamic time warping is an efficient method in speech recognition. In this presentation, it is shown that dynamic time warping can be applied to the estimation of phase aberration in ultrasonic imaging as well. Together with a weighting function that considers the local strength of the inspected ultrasonic signals and a modified partial array reference correction, dynamic time warping proved to be a robust estimation scheme for phase aberration. This is demonstrated for aberrated synthetic and experimental data in a comparative evaluation of dynamic time warping together with well-known aberration correction techniques like cross-correlation and speckle look-back
