Abstract
The Marine Advanced Technology Education (MATE) Center offers a Technical Internship Program designed to get college and university students out of the classroom and into the "real world" of marine science and technology. Since the inception of the program, 161 students have been placed in at-sea and shore-based internships with over thirty companies. Many of MATE\´S interns have been hired in cutting-edge marine science and technology jobs. Feedback on the program has shown MATE internships have been beneficial to both students and the host organizations. With many success stories behind the program, MATE plans to increase the number of participants - students and employers
