Abstract :
This paper deals with the Superconducting traction transformer (STT) 1MVA and its cooling. The idea of this usage originated in the SKODA Research Ltd., Pilsen. The paper compares the classical transformer and STT. The second part describes cooling of the STT. This part is complemented by calculations of the heat exchange.
