Abstract :
Virtual Network Embedding (VNE) is an optimization problem which has received much attention in recent years. VNE is a useful abstraction for mapping many-to-many communication groups of nodes onto physical resources, where the latter are nowadays commonly provided across data centers in clouds. Since the VNE problem is NP-Hard, existing practical methods are based on heuristic algorithms. While the algorithms differ across existing VNE proposals, most of them use the same method for profiling physical nodes, which is found in this paper to favor excessive link stress over node stress. Higher link stress manifests in traffic congestion which has major impact on networking in a group.
