Abstract :
In 2001 the ";Concept of HVDC Power Transmissions and Bach-to-Backs use in UPS of Russia and for its Interconnection with Electric Power Systems of Other Countries"; was developed and approved by Scientific Council of JSC ";UPS of Russia";. Within the framework of this concept surveyed more than 30 possible HVDC installations. One of the most perspective spheres of HVDC transmissions\´ application inside UPS of Russia is a transport of electrical energy from Eastern regions to the European part of Russian Federation. Taking into account the unique stocks of power station coal in Central Siberia the idea of HVDC transmission construction from KATEK region hasn\´t lost the actuality and now it is considered with use of new northern line route. In new conditions the one bipolar capacity is considered to be about 3000 MW. The building several HVDC transmissions Siberia - Ural - Center can be concerned also with a prospect of mastering of the major unused waterpower of Yenisei.
