Abstract :
This paper looks at the experience of a Malaysian private college in implementing Problem-based Learning (PBL) in selected subjects in its Diploma programs in relation to improving future graduates´ employability. The study looks at how the College, by introducing PBL, tries to address the problem of employability of fresh graduates because of lack of “soft-skills”. Notable results established were: 1) students favor practical hands-on self-learning approach; 2) using the FILA table actively as part of the PBL approach motivated students to be more independent and resourceful in their learning; 3) students´ communication, team, critical thinking and analytical skills improved with the use of PBL; 4) College resources need to be continually improved to provide a conducive self-learning environment; and 5) the soft skills gained through PBL as a teaching delivery method of OBE can enhance students´ employability once they graduate.
