Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to present a new design for obtaining broadband FPR antennas maintaining the high-gain performance. The design is based on using a quasi-periodic printed FSS (tapered FSS) as reflective covered plate instead of periodic printed FSS (uniform FSS) in transverse plane. Further more, a quasi-periodic dual-resonator 1-D EBG material in vertical plane in combination with tapered FSS in transverse plane as reflective covered plate is also presented.
