Abstract
The objectives of this study are to trade off candidate topologies of the complete space power system, that are the candidate platform topologies and the candidate pay load topologies, and to verify their mutual adequacy by evaluating their performances. The competing platform topologies are limited to 4. They are the unregulated voltage bus, the regulated bus, the hybrid regulated bus and the MPPT battery bus. The payload topologies are restricted to the 2 having the best chances to suit an LEO application. They are the decentralised and the centralised DC/DC topologies. They are assessed in the frame of an industrial application involving a constellation for a multimedia service called SKYBRIDGE. This trade off study is performed with the support of the PowerCap software, dedicated to the dynamic evaluation of in flight power systems
