Abstract
The paper reports generalised experimental volt-ampere characteristics of unipolar corona for a conductor inside a coaxial cylinder and above a plane, as well as for a bipolar system of conductors. Relationships between the generalised characteristics permit a tentative reduction of the corona current system to a unipolar current inside a coaxial cylinder, for which the current density and the electric field strength, essential for environmental assessment of bipolar HVDC power transmission lines, can be easily calculated
