Abstract :
Summary form only given. We will present recent work on all optical technologies for ultrahigh bit rate optical TDM transmission. These results include a demonstration of a new ultrafast source, an 80 Gb/s optical transmission, rate conversion and demultiplexing, and a prototype optical network unit. The system experiments are combined with computer simulation studies to investigate transmission architectures for a 100 Gb/s local area optical network
