Analysing the predicting factors influencing parents to save in National Education Savings Scheme [SSPN]

This paper investigated the underlying variables that inspire Malaysian parents to save for their children´s tertiary education. The main objective is to identify the main predictor variables influencing parents to save. Using the Theory of Planned Behaviour approach, the researchers investigated the magnitude of linear relationships of multiple exogenous variables with the endogenous variable of intention to save in SSPN [National Education Savings Scheme]. Finding of the research led to the factor of Parents´ Aspiration to be the main predictor but mean score variances indicate small effect among other latent variables. Intention to save´s mean scores indicated negative skewness but lack of knowledge to save the main encumbrance. Creating more awareness and dissemination of information to parents directly through schools would probably yield an increase intention towards SSPN contributions.
