Abstract :
The friendly autonomous decentralized system (FADS) is proposed as a next generation railway system. It uses a concept based on a biological analogy to perform actions flexibly and speedily. The FADS is defined by three characteristics: the structure of the autonomous unit, the function of each unit, and the cooperation between units. The production (train control) department, the sales department, the management department, and the functions of each department are the autonomous units. These units always cooperate closely with each other. The cooperation among the units is effected through the information field
