Abstract :
The use of highly decentralized (HD) easily expandable LAN system architectures, especially architectures that incorporate the data field scheme developed by K. Mori et al. (1986) for interprocess communication is examined. Major design parameters to be considered in choosing efficient distributed recovery block (DRB) station structures for different LAN systems are discussed. Three different basic types of LAN system architecture are then considered, and feasible types of DRB station structures on each type of LAN system architecture are discussed
