Abstract
In this paper, we have applied the semantic Web expert system shell (SWEXSYS) as a development framework for implementing a variety of sensor fusion algorithms in the context of the semantic Web. As an initial application, we discuss an approach to level one sensor fusion using the Dempster-Shafer theory of uncertainty within the context of the semantic Web. The semantic Web is an infrastructure for specifying knowledge, data, inference mechanisms, services and other capabilities that would facilitate intelligent machine communication. Such an approach enables the delegation of sensor fusion tasks to intelligent agents in a network-centric environment.
