Abstract
We have found two new families of metastable bright vortex solutions to the nonlinear equations for a parametric amplifier. While these are unstable in free space, they may have applications in parametric amplifiers and oscillators, where the ring-type mode structure can be stabilized by linear elements. A possible advantage to the new structures is the lower peak intensity, which could be useful in preventing optical damage.
