Abstract
In this paper, the control of a VSC-based HVDC system (VSC-HVDC) is described in detail. Two different control strategies are simulated and the dynamic performance of VSC- HVDC is analyzed during system disturbances and faults. The simulation results show that the VSC-HVDC link can fulfill control of bi-directional power transfer and ac voltage with fast response. With proper control strategies, it can limit the transferred power during faults and keep the voltage constant at the non-faulted side.
