Abstract :
A survey and brief analysis are presented of existing approaches to decentralized and distributed control design. An attempt is made to underline the issues the designer faces in considering a decentralized, possibly large system. The question of how to approach the design problem for a decentralized system is addressed, and different philosophies are reviewed
