Abstract :
The aim of this work is to demonstrate the advantages of using more dynamic information (like internal dynamics) to perform the load-frequency control, instead of using an input-output approach, as is usual in the current Automatic Generation Control (AGC) structures. This is done using an optimal state feedback centralized control strategy based on state space models of generators and the power system. An observer is used to estimate power load and non measured states. The new power market structure is taken into account, using hourly energy blocks as generator´s references. Finally, several simulation cases are presented to show the results obtained with this new approach.
