Abstract
A simple in-house experimental setup based on impedance measurement for determining the core loss of ferrimagnetic materials under sinusoidal excitation is proposed. The magnetic cores used in high frequency transformers are made of materials having very low core loss. The accuracy of the core loss constructed by the impedance method is sensitive to phase errors introduced by the parasitic impedances and time delays of the measurement equipment. To minimize this error, a resonant method using an impedance analyser is proposed for constructing the core loss. The voltage requirement for this method at high frequency is not large. The proposed method, implemented with compensating techniques, provides reasonably accurate results in constructing core loss at high frequency
